JB Seed Fund (now simply called "The Seed") has announced a partnership with Skinnyfish Music for a new funding initiative entitled the "Skinnyfish Indigenous Community Music Initiative." With the support of The Seed, Darwin-based record label, distributor and publisher of Indigenous music Skinnyfish will "create paid performance opportunities for community bands in and around their homelands" through "existing and established festivals and events". Gurrumul appears in a feature that went out on Italian TV News (TG2) 16th January 2010 "Storie - Racconti della settimana"
For those of you who can receive the French/German TV channel ARTE, Gurrumul will be performing 2 songs on the show 'One Shot Not' which is broadcast on February 25th (recorded in November). Other guests on the show include Florence and the Machine and Fink.

Gurrumul has just returned from a fabulous European tour. Highlights from this eight (8) concert tour include: a sell out concertin Zurich, Switzerland where the audience went wild with excitement: high impact press and television coverage in France, where the general population's response to Gurrumul was more than positive; and an overwhelming positive response from people all over Europe to Gurrumul and his music.

With his extraordinary voice and hauntingly beautiful album, Gurrumul, Indigenous singer Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu has become something of a cultural phenomenon over the last year. Born blind, the gifted musician leads a traditional lifestyle on Elcho Island in Arnhem Land and sings in his native Yolngu language, but his fame is spreading the world. He recently won two coveted ARIA Awards among others and was named NT Australian of the Year for 2008.

Skinnyfish Music has struck a joint venture partnership with Mike Batt's Dramatico for a pan-European release of "Gurrumul," the stirring debut from indigenous artist Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu. A deal for Japan is also on the slate. After being approached by two majors, the directors of Darwin-based Skinnyfish Music ultimately decided Dramatico was the best partner to assist the former Yothu Yindi and Saltwater Band member in fulfilling the next stage of his solo career.
