Warumpi have been where no other Australian band has been before or since and done it harder than any other band. Over twenty years they have not only toured the usual capital city routes many times and in company with the most successful Australian and international acts like Midnight Oil and Marilyn Manson they have toured Europe, Japan and the South Pacific. George is a seasoned professional artist with 20 years experience in the music industry including extensive touring in Australia and overseas. His recording career began in 1983 with the single “Jailanguru Pakarnu”, the first rock song ever released in an Aboriginal language. Since then he has recorded Big Name No Blankets in 1985, Go Bush 1988 and Too Much Humbug 1996, all with Warumpi Band. His performances have been met with critical acclaim throughout Australia and he has been in constant demand at rock festivals having performed at WOMADelaide, The Melbourne International Festival and The Adelaide Fringe Festival as well as several indigenous music events around the country. His last national tour was with Warumpi band for the 1999 Big Day Out. |
