The driving philosophy behind the label is to work with and provide opportunities for Indigenous artists.The majority of artists on the roster are from northern Australia however recently the first indigenous East Timorese artist, Ego Lemos, was signed. As well as being a record label, Skinnyfish Music is a distributor and music publisher. Sony/ATV work closely with SFM Publishing to represent Skinnyfish Music writers. This partnership creates enormous opportunities across the world for the placement of songs into film and television as well as placing songs before well known artists as cover versions.
